Dave Mason named to HMMA Advisory Board

HOLLYWOOD, CA - MAY 12, 2010: Dave Mason, legendary guitarist, songwriter, founding member of supergroup Traffic and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee is the newest addition to the ever growing list of esteemed names on the of HMMA Advisory Board.

"I'm honored to be on the advisory board for the Hollywood Music in Media Awards along with Nile Rodgers, John Debney and other music industry folks!  It was a thrill to receive the HMMA's Outstanding Career Achievement Award at the MIMI conference last November.  Surrounded by family, friends and all those young artists was a great experience.  Having Skunk Baxter there, saying those kind words and playing guitar with me on stage was a real treat.  I think what the HMMA is doing for the music scene is something special and I'm proud to be associated with such a fine organization."

Mason was presented with the organization's Outstanding Career Achievement honor during the Music In Media Interactive Conference (MIMICON) luncheon on November 21st, 2009.  At the gala event, surrounded by throngs of family, friends, fans and conference attendees, fellow iconic guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Blues Brothers) presented the award then joined his friend on stage for a stirring performance of Mason's signature solo hit, "We Just Disagree".  As part of the Dave Mason tribute, the HMMA arranged for Dave to appear on 100.3 The Sound as a "guest DJ" programming an eclectic playlist that included his performances with Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Traffic and Fleetwood Mac.

"We were extremely pleased to present this honor to Dave Mason and proud to have him as a valuable member of the organization's board of advisors", adds HMMA co-founder and executive producer, Brent Harvey.
