Now accepting Music In Visual Media submissions

August 27, 2015 - Hollywood, CA:  The 6th annual Hollywood Music In Media Awards™ is now accepting SCORE and SONG submissions for nomination consideration in film, TV, video games, trailers, documentaries and all other forms of visual media. Visual submission deadline is September 1, 2015. The HMMA main event will take place November 11, 2015 at The Fonda Theater, Hollywood.

Oscars favor HMMA picks

The nominees for the 87th Academy Awards were announced Thursday, January 15th. Following a recurring trend this awards season, HMMA nominees and winners are in the mix. Two of the Oscar nominees for Best Original Song, "Lost Stars" (Begin Again) written by Gregg Alexander & Danielle Brisebois and "Everything is Awesome" (The Lego Movie) written by Shawn Patterson, both won at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards three months ago.  Following suit are HMMA nominees for Best Score; Alexandre Desplat (The Imitation Game), Hans Zimmer (Interstellar) and Jóhann Jóhannsson (The Theory of Everything). HMMA Nominees get Golden Globe nods

January 2, 2015 - Hollywood, CA:  Once again, HMMA is ahead of the curve.  Since its inception, the HMMA has nominated or awarded individuals and productions well before receiving a nod from traditional award events, and this year is no exception.  Five of the seven 2014 HMMA nominees for Best Score - Feature Film have received a nomination from the 2015 Golden Globe Awards™ and the Satellite Awards.  Will Oscar nods be in the cards as well? Birdman, Dragon, and Hobbit Win Big at The 5th Annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) announced the winners at their 5th annual awards show last night at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The night’s top honors went to Antonio Sanchez, who won Best Score – Feature Film for Birdman, and John Powell, who won Best Score – Animated Film for How To Train Your Dragon 2.

“It’s about time drummers get some love. Now we have Birdman and Whiplash. This is shaping up to be our year,” joked Sanchez, who opened the show with a drum performance of his score to scenes from the film. “I owe this award to the innovative genius behind the film, Alejandro González Iñárritu.
